Criminal Defense
Violent Felonies
When you are charged with robbery or a serious assault, including sexual assault, you need an advocate who appreciates the stakes involved. With over a decade of litigation experience, including trial experience in assault and robbery cases, I understand what you're facing. These cases are serious, and they require thoughtful and thorough advocacy.
Murder
When a loved one is charged with the most serious offense, be sure to choose an attorney with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to effectively handle such a charge.
Juvenile Defense
The juvenile justice system is different from the adult system. It is important to have an attorney who knows the rules, has experience litigating these matters, and is not afraid to stand up for the rights of a juvenile who has found themselves in the system.
Gun Charges
Be it your first misdemeanor gun charge, or a possession of firearm by felon or weapon of mass destruction charge, gun charges are serious, and I treat them as such. Having an experienced litigator by your side to protect your rights in these cases is of the utmost importance.
Property Crimes
Don't get caught holding the bag on your felony larceny, obtaining property by false pretense, or fraud charge. As an attorney who has been practicing for over a decade, I know hard work and communication are essential in getting the best outcomes in these types of cases.
DWI
Getting charged with DWI is scary, and navigating what comes next can be daunting. You need an expert at your side who knows the law, will fight for you, and will help you through this difficult ordeal with compassion and understanding.
Drug Crimes
From misdemeanor marijuana possession to drug trafficking, I am prepared to fight for your rights. I have years of litigation experience fighting these charges in the courtroom, and working with community resources for the best outcome, whatever your situation.
Misdemeanors
Getting charged with a misdemeanor offense, including domestic violence, simple assault, and larceny, can be frightening. Having an experienced, battle-tested attorney by your side to advocate for you in court is essential. Do not go it alone.
Domestic Violence
When you are charged with a domestic violence offense, you will find yourself in a position where many of your rights and liberties are in jeopardy. It is imperative that you have a zealous advocate in that situation to fight for your future.

About Morgan E. Bennett Attorney at Law
I am a North Carolina native, originally from the Triangle area. I attended Appalachian State University as an honors student. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science: International and Comparative Politics, and a minor in Sociology. In 2010, I moved to the Triad to attend law school at Elon University School of Law. There, I became a member of the Elon Law Innocence Project, where I found my calling as a criminal defense attorney. I was an editor of the Elon Law Review, and I graduated cum laude in 2013. Upon passing the bar in 2013, I began my career in criminal defense at the Durham County Public Defender’s Office. I advocated for juveniles accused of all types of crimes from drug possession to serious assaults, robberies, and kidnapping.
In 2016, I moved to the Guilford County Public Defender’s Office, as I lived in Greensboro and had come to call the Triad home. I remained in that position until going into private practice in 2022. Throughout my nearly decade-long career as a public defender, I gained invaluable experience in advocacy and litigation on behalf of the criminally accused. I have represented people charged with all types of misdemeanor and felony offenses including DWI, larceny, domestic violence, serious assaults, drug possession and trafficking, kidnapping, burglary, breaking or entering, financial crimes, death by motor vehicle, sex offenses, and murder. I bring a deep knowledge of the criminal justice system, criminal laws and procedure to my practice. I am dedicated to my clients, and I fight fearlessly for their interests. I work hard to ensure that my clients’ statutory and constitutional rights are protected at every stage of the criminal process.
I have also taught as an adjunct professor at Elon Law School, instructing first year law students in a specialized criminal law course that focuses on specific aspects of a criminal case from start to finish.
In my free time, I like to travel and spend time with my two children.
